Terroir of exception and expertise
The Château Laur’s signature is an union between a traditional vineyards with proven know-how and exceptional terroir. In This Château Laur has distinguished itself for more than 30 years in the appellation of cahors with numerous awards (1 or 2 stars to the Hachette guide, Gold medal at the Macon competition, Medals at the South West wines contest, 90 / 100Decanter)
The range “Tradition du Château Laur” honors 100% Malbec crus. Our challenge lies in the production of great wines from this unique grape variety and thus restoring all its nobility to the great terroir of the high hills of the appellation Cahors.
To do this, the Laur family has invested in a whole new semi-buried vineyard cellar which allows the transfer of the grape harvest by gravity and thus preserve the quality of the berries: a vat room at the forefront of technology.
In 2012 a new vat has made it possible to improved the quality of the vinification with a capacity of 4000 hl, it is equipped with thermoregulated stainless steel vats, dedicated to vinification of each parcel. The fruit is privileged in relation to the extraction to preserve the richness of the expression of the terroir.
The wines of the “Cuvée Excellence Vielles Vignes” capture the depth and complexity of the terroir of the causse.The care given to the soil management makes it possible to control the yields and thus to improve the quality of the grapes.
These cuvées from our best plots benefit from a maturation in oak barrels for one year. Period during which the tannins slowly refined in a cellar under controlled temperature and hygrometry. A great attention is paid to the provenance of the woods and heat to obtain a larger aromatic palette during assemblages.
The “quest for excellence” has always been our main concern.This is of course the introduction of innovative practices both in the vineyard during pick-ups, vineyards and livestock.
The “Premium” range reflects the elegance and quintessence of the great wines of Malbec. Under the direction of the consultant Oenologist Doctor Alain Raynaud nicknamed the Karl Lagerfeld of the oenology and creator of the circle of the Left and Right Bank.
Together, we have elaborated this cuvée while respecting the same quality charter as the grands Crus Bordeaux.
This vintage get the benifits of a vinification intégrale in French oak barrels big capacity 500l.
The “Grande Réserve” as the name suggests is only reserved for the best vintages.
